Hi guys! I just thought I share some ideas about sleep… as I have a rather strange sleep and I wonder if successful people sleep more or less than others?
I told you this weekend is 100% relax for us and sleep without any alarms on or any particular plans. Nowadays I sleep so much more than previous years; I sleep-in all my missed hours from my childhood when my mom used to wake me up very early all the time. I also had a pony that needed to be taken care of, so there was really no option to sleep in.
Although it gave me a good education in being structured and become a morning person, I think I would have needed more sleep as a child. That sleeping routine of waking up early stuck to me and I constantly continued to force myself to get up, even if I was exhausted or tired from night before or simply needed to rest. In my life there was no time to rest, ever and I thought sleeping was a bad thing for lazy people, I wanted to be one of these people sending emails at 5 in the morning or being in the library at school before it opened. I always had a packed agenda of school, studying, sports or other things.
I simply never slept enough. When I met my partner all of that changed and he thought me that sleeping and relaxing is not a bad thing and successful individuals needs rest. Nowadays I never set my alarm on weekends in case I don’t have appointments, and never wake up before 6 in the morning.
In addition to my own thoughts about sleep I was recently listening to a podcast with Ariana Huffington stating; “Sleep your way to the top” and wrote a book about sleep habits. Anyone here who read it?
Anyway, nowadays, I figured I need to sleep lots lots of hours, 8 hours each night and 10 hours on weekends. I think very few people seem to do, at least they say so, but if I don’t get my hours I get extremely unproductive and feeling almost tipsy. So instead of having a slow brain and a long workday, I prefer being efficient with a shorter day.
But I sometimes have completely sleepless nights for no reason. I just wake up at 2-3 and have so much energy I usually go up and work. It’s really strange. I still can’t understand sleep completely,.. How much do you sleep? I would be happy to hear your comments, as I think we should strive for more sleep in general. Have a relaxing and cozy Sunday!
