CLEANING LADIES & PAUL COELHO

A late good morning to you all… as mentioned yesterday it was a nasty day, mainly because I came to a dispute with our cleaning lady and ended up in her quitting. Sounds like a luxury problem but the fact is that we both work very hard and as Isabella Löwengrip once said “ I create more value being in the office than cleaning my house”… So therefore having help cleaning and ironing and such is really crucial for us to make our days function. For the second time in a row I’ve been very disappointed coming home on the days when she cleaned, it’s still dirty and no instructions has been followed and I had an idea of that someone else then her was in our house.

I confronted her with the facts and she blew up in some kind of crying anger, a strange reaction to such a small issue. And it all ended in a discussion where she tried to defend herself and I just simply said  “just do your job and I am happy…..” but, apparently I offended her so much that she, in her anger, left the key in our postbox and said she wouldn’t come back. I believe there must have some other problem bothering her. I felt terrible making someone feel bad but on the other hand I know I did right, why pay for something not worth the money and someone who’s lying? …. Crap, one problem solved but another arising, I got to find a new one, and this time a kind person and less of a drama queen.

What I really wanted to talk about here on the blog today was books and not cleaning. I like to read but I do it more less than often nowadays, but next week (when going for a retreat in Spain) I have loaded up with books to read at the poolside. I like reading different books at the same time, I often read a scientific book (to learn something), a biography (to get inspired) and a novel (to dream away), all at the same time. In my hand on the pictures below I have Outliers by Malcom Gladwell and By invitation only that is the story about GILT Group. In addition to that I’ve just ordered a pile of books from my favourite author Paulo Coelho. So far I have only read the Alchemist and Adultery which I can warmly recommend and on my trip next week I’m planning to read The Winner Stands Alone.

DIY STYLISH NAME CARDS

Hi, how are you today? The weekend is just around the corner and I have that ultimate Friday feeling inside me! My weekend will be social with a BBQ party tonight and guests over for dinner tomorrow, and to make it a little bit extra fun I’m making name cards for the table. I need to stay on top of this DIY trend (just kidding..). But I always think that it’s the small details that matters; I could also of course leave it and order pizza ;-) but I always try to make each evening a little special. Making stylish name cards is easy, I simply buy a paper with a nice finishing in my closest book store, and using my gold and silver pencils to write the names. This time I wanted silver paper with a golden scripts. Another little tips is to write a personal note inside the name card, or make it into a game if you several guests; provide half of a sentence and make the guests find its other half sentence.

Simpel as that; buy a paper with a shiny finish in your nearest bookstore

Apart from dinner plans, we have IKEA plans as we need to get some new flowers pots for our terrace and my wish is to eat meatballs for lunch tomorrow at the IKEA restaurant. It probably sounds crappy but for those who haven’t tried I can recommend it :) and lastly, we always load up with Swedish food like Kalles, Candy, Ballerina Kex and Sill! Yummy! Whats your plans for the weekend? Big hug and enjoy your weekend!

To get that extra sparkle; write with a pencil in gold or silver

IN LOVE

Hi Darlings, I just need to show you, I have totally fallen for this apartment and the style. I was just looking to find some inspiration at some of Swedens best brokers when I came across this flat at Alexander White in Stockholm. I think it’s a mix of the photography style, the interior in the apartment and the old 19-century feeling that makes my heart beat. Apart from that it’s time to close my Macbook for today and go home and make pancakes! It’s Thursday and that means traditional soup and pancakes for us, at least one in a while! Hugs!

OFFICE BREAK

Hi guys, it’s time for a break and it’s great to get out of the office for a couple of days for a well deserved easter holiday. Although I love my office, I wanted to give a little bit of inspiration over easter in case you would get bored of all the egg hunting and chocolate eating and thinking about your workspace ;-) I have a thing for blue right now, which is a great office colour. It gives a serious but modern impression as well as having a calming effect on our brains. Anyhow, enough work-talks for this week… I’m checking out, closing my laptop and wishing you a lovely holiday! Speak to you again on Monday!

How I would love my meeting room right now...

I'm out, see you Monday!

TASTEFUL EASTER DECO

Bonjour! Easter is here and I think I haven’t really realised it yet! Easter for me means it’s officially spring, and my god, spring this year has arrived so fast! I felt like we just ended the skiing season and jumped right into the summer. At least it’s been like that here in Switzerland, from one day to another we had 20 degrees and all flowers blooming. Really nice!

EASTER DECO
EASTER DECO

We are starting our easter holidays tonight by having guests over for a bbq, and I have decorated the table with a feeling of spring and easter. It's warm here so we might sit outside but as we have some birds (silly pigeons making a nest) on our terrace and hence I need to set the table inside, at least firstly. When it comes to traditional decoration I prefer the light version of decoration, tastefully. I'm not into turning the house upside down with deco and then removing it all a week later. Maybe this comes with age but for now I like simple and clean decoration (see my cotton easter tree on my instastories). For dinner and festivities in general; I adore decorating with feathers. I think they look so light and beautiful and adding that extra little touch to the dinner table. I have chosen white feathers today so get that classy look, but one can also use coloured ones for a more fun look.

We will be celebrating our easter holidays in South of France, more precisely near Cannes on the cote d'azur countryside. I cant wait to wake up and eat freshly made croissants and drink my coffee in the sunshine, speak French, listen to cheesy french songs and drive around in our little car. Although we have the same weather and the same croissants here, we just need a break and a get away from home and the croissants do taste better in France ;-) Hugs!!
