STRAWBERRY
Good morning friends! What did you do this weekend? I believe today is a day off in most places in Europe today, but not for me as Switzerland is split into so many different small Cantons (like small villages…) all having it’s own rules and holidays. So I’m at the office working through my emails. Did you do anything fun this weekend? My weekend felt long and probably due to so many different things. Shortly summed up; we had an absolutely great brunch on our terrace in the sunshine, we went for a run, we almost finished the second season of Billions (only the last episode left!) and we bought a new lamp from Moooi. My mom saw this lamp at their friends house and spoke so warmly about this lamp so I decided to get it for our living room instead of a chandelier.

We had delicious strawberry juice for brunch

Back to the brunch; this feels like more of an international concept, it is basically breakfast food for lunch from my opinion. So as we are such late sleepers and eat breakfast really late we count it as brunch. So on our brunch table this weekend we had newly baked bread from the bakery, vanilla yoghurt and best of all; the strawberry juice. I should't take pride for the juice as my partner did it, but we putted oranges and strawberries into our juicer and voila; this red-orange juice came out. In fact, strawberries are great to eat / drink when the sun comes out as it boosts your own natural protection against the sun (your bodys UVA protection). It’s basically a drinkable sunscreen.

I have two intense day’s in front of me and on Wednesday I leave to Spain and Andalusia for five days of Detox Holidays together with my mom. Well needed and a great body fresh up before the summer kicks in!

NASTY DAY & TUNA PASTA

What a day... A nasty day, I will tell you more tomorrow, but right now all we need is peace, good food and red wine. I'm not suppose to drink any wine this week as I'm going for a detox holiday next week in Spain but I texted my partner and said " - screw the detox, tonight we are dining with tuna pasta , red wine and candles" and he texted back a big YES. This is one of our favourite dishes. Have a lovely evening and speak tomorrow!

SLOW JUICE

I love to start my day’s with fresh pressed juice! Especially as I’m not a “breakfast person”, but need something energising to get me going. I use a slow juicer from Hurom that I’ve bought last year. When I looked for a juicer I firstly wanted a juicer making cold-pressed juice (meaning the machine presses the vegetables slowly without destroying all the enzymes), secondly a juicer that somehow looked good in order to keep it in the kitchen to all times. I found it. So, last year I started to make endless of juice, each morning for me and my partner.

But aj aj aj…. After approximately six months I started to feel some strange pain in my teeth and from time to time feeling dizzy. I surely didn't connect the juice to my health as I was convinces juice only made positive impact. I was wrong. Fruit juice damages the emalj on your teeth as well as breaking down important layers in your stomach from ist sourness. But these are things that no juice company would ever highlight. My dentist convinced me to only drink juice once a week, and after having listened to the podcast with Sebastian Siemiatkowski ; the founder of Klarna who mentioned he’s got gastric ulcer (magsår) from drinking too much juice, I got completely convinced that too many liters of juice can be dangerous. So even if juice is delicious, be careful with it.

TEA FOR TWO
Hi and good morning! This week is a tea week; yup, I have some strange stomach problems since a really long time and I have tried everything in my power to figure out what it can be (gluten, milk, different typs of fats…etc) but nothing seems to be the right diagnose. This week I’ll try to avoid coffee in the morning and switch it to green tea to see if that helps. I have a slight feeling it’s a combination of a little bit of everything; especially when overdoing something like too much stress, too much pasta, too much coffee. I guess it’s something I need to live with and just try to be balanced, which is hard.

To make my tea experience a bit more fun I invested in a tea box last weekend. We passed by our local second hand store, a dreamy place filled to the top with old furniture and deco. I was actually looking for a vase when I found this old box for tea, perfect to sort my teabags in a nice way, and when inviting guests instead of offering the boring paperbox that the tea comes in.

How do you store your tea? Hugs.

PINEAPPLE JUICE

Good Monday morning! I’m making a pineapple juice for breakfast today as I feel bloated after the weekend’s party. In the flight yesterday my fingers were so swollen I could hardly move my rings; a sign of too little sleep and too much unhealthy drinks. So time to clean up the body and start on the right track on the first day of this week!

Pineapple is a fantastic fruit, and at least in Switzerland always available (I think it was sometimes hard to buy in Sweden, at least we never really ate it at home). Pineapple is stuffed with healthy vitamins and low in calories. The three best best benefits of Pineapple must be firstly, Its ability to reduce the inflammation of joints and muscles,. Pineapples contain a relatively rare proteolytic enzyme called bromelain which has anti-inflammatory effects. Secondly, Pineapples are a rich source of fiber, but they are special in that they contain both soluble and insoluble fiber. This means that eating a healthy amount of pineapples can protect you from bloating, and diarrhea as well as blood pressure. Thirdly, of course for skin, hair and all the beauty due to its richness in vitamin C.

The plans for the week? Finally, a calm week ahead with no travels and no late night plans, only lots of fun work (I am dying to tell you something but I need to wait a couple of more weeks...) And the best part is the weather! The weather app says right now +21 degrees from today until Friday, the start of a warm spring, so I believe we will spend some time on our terrace and have some friends over for sunset drinks. Many hugs and have a fantastic start of your week!
