Hello darlings, I wanted to kick of this weekend with my “blogger guide to Zurich”. My guide is nothing fancy but a strait-from-the-heart / “personal guide to Zurich”. I included coffee places in Zurich, cocktail bars and restaurants in Zurich and a little bit more personal such as places to walk in Zurich and where to go for a beauty treatment in Zurich.
There is nothing better than great coffee, and nothing worse than bad coffee. Sometimes I wonder if I have Italian blood inside me, my sense for coffee is over the top selective. Believe it or not; the best ever coffee in Zurich can be found in the train station in Enge in the little cafe Spettacolo next to the train tracks. There are a few Spettacolo cafes in Zurich but the coffee taste different, only in Enge you can find the best one, believe me I tried! If they ask you; take the “strong version” half cup, and add cream to it if you like.
I must say I constantly discovering new bars in Zurich. But my all time favourite bars, that will stay my favourites, are the two bars at Baur Au Lac hotel; in the winter I like a glass of red wine at the Rive Gauche and in the summer a cocktail in the garden bar outside. The new gig I have recently discovered is Hotel Rivington & Sons, the second floor. Perfect for a late night drink in an jazzy environment.
I’m not shopping too much in Zurich but if I need to chose; I’d pick Bongenie Grieder for it’s selection and size (not too big and too many things) and the small shops in the Old Town of Zurich. I cant recall any of their names but it is just cozy to walk around there and look into all the pretty shops.
Nice places to walk
I walk a lot and have probably walked all over Zurich. My favourite places to walk are Uetliberg with a beautiful surrounding nature. For the lake view I pick the bridge over Rotefabrik (ps. Stop over for something to drink at Seerose) and lastly I sometimes go direction Zurich Zoo walk around in the forrest surrounding the Dolder Grand Hotel.
Beauty / Day spa
Most of the times I do my beauty treatments outside of Switzerland, simply because Zurich is twice as expensive as any another country for this type of treat. But in case I really need to make a facial I like the recently opened hotel Atlantis; they have a stunning spa, fitness studio and perfect treatments (and the spa manager is Swedish <3). If I need to make nails, eyelashes or similar I head to U’nique Saloon at Langstrasse. Demee who’s running the saloon has a big heart and is a true icon in the city.
Let’s kick of this Friday, I have a sparkling butterfly feeling inside me, the ultimate Friday-feeling! <3
Hugs and enjoy your day and the day!
