Good morning, I’ve been sitting here in my armchair drinking tea since sunrise, and yes, I woke up way too early. I wanted to share a few tips on blogging as I recently received useful feedback from my mother, who’s a frequent reader of my blog. She told me I wrote too long texts and that one doesn’t have time to read it. Good point! So I adjusted to the below.
Pictures tells more than words and people today have a very short attention-span. Hence, your images needs to tell the story. I use maximum four image blocks to build up my posts; I usually want to build my blog posts with one horizontal image followed by two vertical images next to each other and ending with one full length / width vertical image. In the case you want to add an extra image; use another horizontal image to end your blogpost. Your pictures helps building the structure of your blogpost.
I mostly blog from my laptop where long texts looks normal, however knowing most readers (including myself) read blogs from their mobile phones, the texts becomes incredibly long. My tips for good texts are the following; break down your text in three parts; start with an intro covering the topic of your blogpost. Put this text on top of your first image; secondly, write the second part as more detailed. This text goes in the middle of your pictures 1 and 2. End your blogpost with a summary, or a conclusion. This part goes either above or underneath your last picture. Voila.
There are of course different ways of blogging, and some write all in one and above all pictures and some put all the pictures in a gallery. But from reading lots of blogs, especially via my iphone this is the way I find it easiest to read any blog. Have a lovely day
